Save resources through efficient use of energy, waste and water Reduce GHG and related costs through pollution prevention

Build the safest and most pleasant department store through zero-accident and zero-fire campaigns and compliance management

Carry out appropriate prevention and improvement activities by identifying risks in advance and maximizing risk response capacity through employees’ active participation in emergency drills

ISO/OHSAS Certifications List

Hanwha Galleria Co., Ltd. acquired the KOSHA 18001 (safety health management system certified by the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency) for the first time in the Korean department store industry. It has also acquired and currently maintains the ISO14001 / OHSAS 18001 certifications in all its business sites. (2011 – present)

Environmental Management Agreements

Green Card Agreement

In cooperation with the Ministry of Environment, we have concluded the Green Card Agreement and established the Green Card POS system, as part of our efforts to promote green living through green products and a culture of green consumption. (Signed the agreement and established the POS system for the first time in the department store industry)

  • Signed the Galleria Department Store Green Card Agreement (2011)
  • Opened the Green Card POS System (2011)
  • Implemented eco-money accrual and accumulation system for purchasing green products at grocery corners Made eco-money exchangeable into Galleria gift certificates (2011~)

Voluntary Energy Reduction

By voluntarily carrying out its agreements with relevant institutions, Galleria and each of its business site participate in reducing greenhouse gases and energy consumption through energy reduction activities

Implementation
  • Signed the Voluntary Agreement (VA) (2006, Currently Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy)
  • Joined Energy Saving through Partnership (ESP) (2006, Currently Korea Energy Management Corporation)
  • Established the GHG inventory system (2010)
  • Introduced photovoltaic systems at Center City and Timeworld (2010-2011)
  • Adopted high-efficiency LED lighting and media façade at Ecopark
  • Joined the GERP Agreement (2011, Currently Korea Energy Management Corporation)
  • Established solar power complex equipment on the rooftops of Galleria Luxury Hall (2014)

Voluntary Agreement on Green Purchasing

By signing the Voluntary Agreement on Green Purchasing with the Ministry of Environment in 2006, we are promoting the use of green products and firmly establishing a culture of sustainable consumption. Our stores have been designated by the Ministry of Environment as green stores, referring to retail stores that contribute to environmental betterment, which means that we install eco-friendly equipment and operate our stores in accordance with the requirements set forth by the Ministry to be designated as a green store.

Implementation
  • Signed the Voluntary Agreement on Green Purchasing with the Ministry of Environment (2006)
  • Launched the sale of green products and announced performance in green purchasing (inaffiliation with the Korea Environmental Industry and Technology Institute)
  • Launched the operation of the green store system of the Ministry of Environment (October 2011)
  • Galleria Center City, The Galleria Suwon and Galleria Timeworld designated as green stores (November 2011)
